Since the people who voted to take the money going into Social Security Trust Fund and move it to the Federal Government General Fund (they’ve used it all to promote other entitlement programs) used it all up.
This is now a take as you go process that gutted the fund 30 years ago.
Now rather than having a fund growing and earning in Trust, the Federal Government has spent every dime on welfare, food stamps, UN and so on, we are now entering an era where the working population cannot support the retiring population of Baby Boomers.
Oh and the next gen of workers are really pissed off about that.
The fix, no one should receive more than a minimum Social Insecurity payout above $14,500 per year. Currently the upper end is somewhere around $30,000 per year. Secondly all Social Security payments should be taxed at ordinary income, no special dispensation for earnings less than $35,000 as it is now. Third no upper limit on taxes, this year after you earn over $110,000 the Social Insecurity Tax ends. Lift that and tax everyone on every dollar.
Then fire everyone in the Government every 4 years or less.
Last disband all Federal Congressional and Administrative Retiree systems and their Health care and put them on the regular citizens program.
This will make Social Insecurity solvent and capable of paying the obligations for the rest of this century.
